Mags

Meet Mags, the 70lb bundle of joy with a heart as big as Texas! This female American Staffordshire Terrier / American Pit Bull Terrier mix has already had quite the adventure in her young life. Mags was picked up as a baby in early 2023 by Lytle Animal Control in Lytle, Texas, where she spent nearly a year in their shelter. Her story took a dramatic turn when she was at risk of euthanasia, but thanks to a compassionate animal control officer who pleaded for her life, Mags found her way to us in January 2024 as one of our first two residents.

Despite being adopted briefly, Mags was returned through no fault of her own. When she first arrived at our sanctuary, we discovered that she was heartworm positive and severely vitamin deficient. She even had an infection in her gums. But Mags is a fighter, and with the right medication and care, she has made an incredible recovery from malnutrition and is on track to be heartworm-free by February 2025.

Through it all, Mags has remained a loving, intuitive, and affectionate companion. She is incredibly patient and always eager to learn and please. Her resilience and joyful spirit are truly inspiring. Mags is the perfect example of how love and proper care can transform lives, and we are so grateful to have her as part of our pack.
